Black Bag is a 55
minute musical journey into the world of two German brothers.
Written and performed by Wes Snelling and Benn Bennett, BLACK BAG
stems from a rehearsal in which Benn sat at a piano and Wes stood
alongside him with a case full of random props and costumes. The
first BLACK BAG gig officially took place in November 2006 at
Melbourne's Butterfly Club as part of a 'Wrong Night' hosted by
the extraordinary Kate McLennan. The crowd were very receptive,
thus encouraging Benn and Wes to build the show into an hour long
performance.
Together they sung and wrote songs in a
comical way. The characters also began to take shape and the shows
main themes became about higher and lower status and most of all
about sibling rivalry.
In October 2007, Black Bag was performed for 5 nights at the
Melbourne Fringe Festival at Northcote Town Hall. The age reviewed
the show by awarding it with 4 stars! -
In 2008 Black Bag will be appearing at 45 Downstairs as part of
the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. With dramaturg by
Paul Horan (Real Stories), Black Bag has had a face lift and a
tummy tuck and has expanded into an even more captivating and
comically driven show.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the 20 performances!
BLACK BAG - There's something in
